Simply put, consciousness is awareness - what we are aware of. It is the set of eyeglasses we wear to view our world, to comprehend and understand it. Thankfully, we have the ability to change those glasses whenever we want. We can look through the eyeglasses of duality and see two sides to all things. Such is the common way.

Or, we can look through "third-eye" eyeglasses and see a unified view. This, unfortunately, is not the common view.

Virtually our entire indoctrination into our world, be it through family, education, religion or media, is based on a dualistic view. While this is helpful to get along in our world, it is not a comprehensive vision, nor does it give us a truthful view of reality.

One must venture to a transcendental state, that is, bringing one's awareness beyond the dualistic mind, to a place of paradox. It is the melding of the dualistic experience into a singular experience. While our human mind works as a computer to give us feedback about our environment, the third eye experience elevates us to seeing from a spiritual or infinite nature.

To be in the world, yet not of it, means to be able to see both with dualistic and singular focus. The dualistic focus is separation -- all things compartmentalized, labeled, analyzed and defined. The singular or unified focus is about oneness, unity, connection and interrelatedness.

As a student of consciousness and one who has experienced the unified consciousness, it is my desire to share with you, the reader, the incredible cornucopia of knowledge and experience that has been my journey. Thanks for coming along on the ride!
